Yellowstone!

We've been talking about going to Yellowstone with my parents for awhile but haven't done it before because we weren't sure about the kids... well we just decided to go for it.  Steve and I went to Yellowstone about 8 years ago with his family and my parents went about 5 years ago.  We decided to do it in 2 days so that we wouldn't be rushed and could do whatever we wanted to.  We drove up Wednesday morning and of course the weather decided to be really windy and cloudy, but thankfully it didn't rain on us.  It really is a beautiful place and just about every view could be turned into a postcard.  The geysers and hydro-thermal features are just so interesting and crazy to think the whole place is inside an ancient volcano.

We weren't quite sure how the kids would be but I was for sure nervous about taking them around giant waterfalls, geysers, and boiling mud pots.  I had visions of them falling in, but thankfully we kept everyone alive and in one piece.  We had shown Preston a couple videos to get him ready to visit Yellowstone and he was so much more interested in everything than we thought he would be, his favorite being the mud bubbles (or "mubbles" as we called them).  Abby on the other hand was a handful... she had no interest in anything we were looking at and hated that we had to hold her hand or hold her to keep her safe (this girl likes her freedom!).  Major lesson learned: bring an umbrella stroller!  We had totally forgotten how much walking it really was, too much for a 2 year old, and we didn't realize that almost everything was stroller accessible.  That would've been a huge help, but oh well.

She liked pulling weeds and grass and playing in the dirt... pretty sure we didn't have to go to Yellowstone for that!

Trying to get these kids to sleep in the hotel room was quite the task.  We were all tired and of course they didn't want to go to sleep!

During our lunch picnic on the second day we looked over and Abby was sitting and playing  on her own in this beautiful meadow.  It was one of those moments that I want to capture forever because she looked so sweet and it was breathtaking scenery. Of course she was eating an oreo and making a mess but she was still cute.

We had a lot of fun and saw so many awesome things but we were EXHAUSTED by the end.  So glad we got a chance to go, especially since it's only 2 hours away.  Preston is already asking when we'll get to go to Yellowstone again!
