Halloween 2013!

We had a great Halloween... around here it seemed like it was a week long event instead of just one day.  We did lots of different activities and had a lot of fun. We started off with our ward trunk or treat.  The kids were SO excited to wear their costumes.  We decided a couple months ago that Abby would be Batman but of course an adorable, 2 year old girl version of it.  So I made the tutu, belt, hair bow and treat bag and sewed the logo and cape onto a black leotard. I LOVE how it turned out and I think Abby liked it too!  Preston was actually excited to wear his same costume he wore last year and has worn it at least once a week since then... sounds good to me!

It took Abby about one minute to figure out the trick or treating thing and kept saying, "Next one!"

We of course had to dump out the treats and check them out.
Next up was carving pumpkins.  Preston thought it was gross and Abby dove right in. Preston requested an angry/scary face and Abby wanted a happy face.  I think we delivered and they were so excited!

The weather was great up until the week of Halloween and then it got really cold, windy and rainy.  We had to be pretty flexible with our plans.  Tuesday night we ended up going to Boo at the Zoo, our 3rd year going.  It was pretty cold but they always do a great job with the lights and decorations and we actually got to see some of the animals.

The penguin exhibit had a bat signal shining on top, perfect for our Batman and Batgirl.
On Wednesday we headed to the Melaleuca offices that do a great job decorating the different departments and letting kids trick or treat through it.  After that we headed to Snake River Landing for Trick or Treat Street.  I kept going back and forth about whether we should go or not because the weather was so bad but we decided to go for it.  It was COLD!!  By the end both kids were crying because they were so cold.  On the way home we stopped by Steve's work so that he could show off the kids.

On the day of Halloween I took the kids to a Halloween story time at the library.  I absolutely love these pics we took out front of the library.  After that we were done with the Halloween festivities and we were all tired.  That night we just relaxed at home and watched the Toy Story Halloween show and made caramel popcorn.

What a fun time of year!  Love that we've kicked off the holiday season.  We're already looking forward to Preston's birthday, Thanksgiving and trying to get Christmas shopping done so we can enjoy the season more.
