This was Preston's first year of swim lessons... if we were in AZ still I'm sure we would have done some last year since you are surrounded by swimming pools, but that is just not the case here. He has always loved the water and been really comfortable in it, but his little run-in with a tipped over canoe from earlier this summer had left him a little nervous about going under the water and jumping in. I was really unsure how it would go, especially since the parents aren't even allowed to go in the gates of the pool... definitely thought there was a lot of potential for total melt downs or complete refusal to participate. I was so pleasantly when no tears were shed and he participated wonderfully! He still wasn't thrilled about going all of the way under or jumping in but we definitely saw progress. We were planning on signing him up for a beginner soccer class that fell through so we ended up doing a second session of swim lessons because he was having so much fun. Today was the very last day and tears have already been shed that swim lessons are over... he just loved knowing that he had that one fun activity to look forward to every day. Definitely a good experience!
On the last day of each session, they get to jump off the "jumping board" as Preston calls it. He was so excited but got a little nervous when it was go time, so he needed a little help down... still super proud of him because that looks scary for a 3 year old!
(These pics were from the first session, but today it was FREEZING!! Only like 67 degrees and super windy, we were all cold and poor Preston was shivering and crying as we were getting him in the car :( Thank you Idaho for feeling like fall at the end of August... NOT!)
