Healthy heart...

At almost all of Abby's well doctor's appointments her doctor has mentioned that he has heard a heart murmur.  Nothing major but every time he would ask if he had mentioned that before... um, yes every time.  At her 18 month appointment the doctor decided it would be a good idea to get the heart murmur checked out by a pediatric cardiologist.  He wasn't overly concerned since she is growing well and is healthy but still wanted to make sure there were no other issues.  We made the appointment right away but because she's a specialist who only comes to Idaho Falls twice a month we had to wait 6 weeks for the appointment that was today.  I didn't really think there was a major issue but you just never know and after 6 weeks of waiting, we were definitely anxious.  Abby was awesome and sat patiently for the EKG, to get her blood pressure on each arm and leg and have the doctor listen to her heart A LOT.  The doctor finally said that she does have a murmur that is in a weird place which is probably why we were referred but that everything else is fine, no hole, blood vessels and blood pressure normal.  She said that 95% of heart murmurs in children are fine and mostly because they are growing and that Abby's murmur goes away when she stands up and abnormal murmurs never do that.  She told us that there are no restrictions and that she just wants to see Abby again in 3 years (totally expected her to say 3 months) to check things out again.
What a relief!  It felt so good to hear that everything is fine.  I feel like I've been hearing so many stories of different health problems with kids that it makes me terrified that something like that might happen to one of my children and makes me all the more grateful for their good health.  Feeling blessed!
They were handing out these adorable little dolls with hospital gowns out to the kids, so cute to watch Abby hug it.
