Steve is still working Saturdays at Wells Fargo to try to make ends meet and he had his first Saturday off in a long time so we wanted to do something fun. He found a cheap little hotel room in Lava Hot Springs. It's just an hour and a half away so we were able to head down there Friday after Steve got home from work. The hotel had a private hot pool but unfortunately it was too dark and were worried about the kids in the super cold air mixed with the hot water. We were bummed that that didn't work out but we let the kids watch a movie on the bunk bed which they thought was super fun.

It wasn't our favorite hotel room ever with it being on the street and kind of loud and small but it worked out ok. The kids of course woke up early because they were so excited but it was hard to keep them quiet and occupied in a small hotel room. After getting our things together we headed up the road for some snow fun. Preston lives for the snow and ice so he was super excited, Abby on the other hand not so much. She was also fighting a nasty cold and was tired so she was having none of it. Steve and Preston were able to find a little path along a stream and a little waterfall.

| Abby's sad face. She had tears rolling down her cheeks. |

| Cool icicles! Preston's favorite thing is to find ice and break it. |
After lunch at a local restaurant (where Steve and I had amazing burgers!) we headed to the Lava Hot Springs indoor pools. The kids' play area that we loved in the summer is indoors so were able to play there for about 2 hours and it wasn't that busy. (No pics of swimming unfortunately since all of our stuff was locked up in lockers). The kids had so much fun and the water was nice and warm so it was relaxing for Steve and I. Of course we were all exhausted by the time we headed home and both kids fell asleep for most of the drive home. All of us including the kids kept saying how much fun our little trip was. Love to have a little get-away and make great memories!
