Blessing in disguise...

Just over two weeks ago Steve had two separate job interviews on the same day.  That has never happened before and we were excited that it showed some progress and hopefully one of them meant a new job.  One was for a job in Pocatello, but a job that wasn't in his wheelhouse and felt above him.  We didn't get our hopes up but he felt good about them wanting to at least do an interview.  The second one was for a job here in Idaho Falls for a director of marketing position.  He felt pretty good about the interview and the whole thing so we were feeling hopeful about that one.  They had told him it would be a couple weeks before they would get back to him.  We hadn't heard anything when two weeks had come so Steve sent them a follow up email.  They responded that they had decided to go in another direction and went with someone else.  ...seriously.  We were both instantly bummed and frustrated to get yet another no.  It put us both into terrible moods to say the least.  It's so hard not to get upset every time this happens and my heart just hurt for Steve.

Steve went to run some errands (and to just blow off some steam).  He also went to go vote for a local election we had that day and ran into a friend from our ward (Bart Adamson).  He and his whole family are just awesome and he was asking Steve if he had anything going on job wise.  Steve ended up telling him the bad news he had just got that day and which company it was for.  This guy has a lot of connections around town and knows a lot of people.  He instantly told Steve that he had been blessed to not get this job and was very lucky.  He went on to explain that all of the higher ups are not LDS or not active (rare for around here) and it is a very rough culture and work environment.  There is a lot of drinking that happens and they expect everyone to participate and if not you feel extremely uncomfortable and left out.  Bart said point blank that Steve would've hated working there and it wouldn't have lasted long.  We definitely trust him and this information.  Both Steve and I took this as a tender mercy to get this information that this really is for the best for him not to work there.  What are the chances that Steve would run into Bart that day and that he would know the company/people involved and share that with Steve?  We feel blessed in two ways: for not getting a job that would've ended in disaster and for getting that information to give us some peace and comfort.  The Lord really is watching out for us.

I had a really bad week last week emotionally and was really all over the place.  It was just way too easy to be frustrated, grumpy, impatient and feel just overall negative.  This week I have been working really hard to turn that around and have hope in good things to come.  And then we got the bad news Tuesday afternoon and I felt like it slapped me in the face.  When Steve came home and told me all that Bart had told him I took that as a positive sign and a blessing. Now I am just trying to continue to move forward and do those things that will help me stay positive and full of faith.
