Preston did great today. Of course he didn't want to sit still to wait his turn or to have wires put all over him but the procedure was SO short! We had been sitting for maybe 5 minutes after they had taken him back and out came the doctor. I thought he was going to say they weren't going to able to do it or maybe there was a concern, but no, the whole thing was over and he did great. (Oh, and he said that he had an ear infection in one of his ears... we had no idea!) We got to go back a few minutes later and we was pretty out of it and drugged up still (not fun to see him like that!) and once he came to a little more he wasn't a very happy camper. We were able to leave a few minutes later and he cried most of the way home, but since then he's been his happy little self. I'm glad it's over, and excited that he might be able to hear us a little better and hopefully he'll start to learn lots of new words because of it!
After really not wanting to sit still, we turned on the little TV they had with a "Blues Clues" video, Preston's favorite. But of course by the time we got it really going it was his turn to go back. It worked for a minute though!

I'm glad they caught this so early. My nephew who is 2 1/2 just got tubes put in last month and had his adenoids taken out because he was having a hard time sleeping at night. They said he had child sleep apnea. He would snore super loud! After the surgery he was at home and some birds were chirping outside and he said "Mom, birds! Birds!" Like he had never heard them before. How sad, right?! Modern medicine is amazing! I'm glad Preston's surgery was so quick and went so smoothly!
So glad everything went well!! If you have ANY questions or concerns about hearing... how it works, learning to speak, etc... You know who to call! I'm the queen when it comes to this stuff now!!!
Tubes is the new black. I'm glad it went well and he took it in stride. He will be a new man and that's well deserved. He looks cute in his hospital gown anyhow. :)
Yeah... glad to know it all went well and that he is on his way to recovery... Tell Preston he is just like his Uncle Dan with the tubes... Hopefully the help with his hearing better though.. because I swear Dan still can't hear!!! LOL!
So glad it went well! He'll be chatting it up before you know it!
Poor little guy. That doesn't sound like fun at all. But at least they found the problem and he can hopefully avoid ear infections all together now!
