Christmas!

This is the very first year in since Steve and I have been together that we have been at our own house and on our own for Christmas.  We definitely missed the time with extended family but it was nice to start some of our own traditions and just relax at home.

Christmas Eve, Steve took the kids to the movies so I could get some cooking and cleaning done.  That night we started off our evening with white enchiladas with some candle light.  After a treat we got in the car and drove around looking at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music... the kids were even falling asleep by the time we came home.  We came home to a surprise from our elf Jingle, new pj's for the kids.  They were so excited.  After that we read a couple of Christmas books and got cookies and egg nog ready for Santa.  These 2 were so, so excited for Santa to come.  Love seeing the magic of Christmas through the eyes of children.  They were off to bed and then Santa got to work.

Love these two sweethearts!
Christmas morning Abby was the first one to wake up at 6:40am, so we were all up bright and early.  Preston was thrilled with his sled and scooter from Santa, and Abby couldn't have been more excited for her new pink kitchen that she has been asking for.  (This little kitchen is adorable and all wood.  I got the kitchen used with three baskets of food and dishes for $50 when the kitchen itself is originally $200.  I totally scored and love it!)  We had fun opening presents from both of our families and presents from us for the kids.  The highlights were Batman lego sets for Preston and pots and pans and dolls from the movie Frozen for Abby.  So much fun.  We had our big breakfast of cinnamon pull-apart bread, bacon, eggs, and OJ.  We just relaxed and let the kids play until Steve's sister Lisa and her boyfriend Zach came over.  We had a late lunch of ham & cheese roll ups (Steve's favorite Christmas tradition) and funeral potatoes.  We just hung out the rest of the day and got to skype with Steve's family.  We had some dessert and then Lisa and Zach went home and then it was bedtime.  We were all exhausted by the end of the day but sad to see Christmas come to an end.
