Surprise family weekend!

It was the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend and we got a call from Steve's family in Nebraska at about 5pm and they told us they were going to come visit us that weekend!  They left at midnight that night and drove straight through for 16 hours and got to our house at about 4pm Friday afternoon.  They are crazy!!!!  But we were so so excited to have them come.  We didn't tell the kids so they got a big surprise when they answered the door.  They were exhausted but we had fun squeezing in the family time while we had it.  We just hung out Friday night and the kids just played and played.  That night Angie and I went to the movies after the kids went to bed.  (side note: we've had tons of rain and got a crazy storm during the movie and it was crazy pouring when we got out.  We had to run through the rain and giant puddles, and there was tons of standing water and cars getting stalled.  There were flash floods in our neighborhood and we almost got stuck!  It was crazy and scary but so glad we got home ok!).

Saturday the kids were up bright and early so that they could get right to playing.  Angie, Abby and I got to do a little shopping.  Abby is such a cute little shopper and did great, so fun.  We had a yummy lunch and then went to the cemetery in Rigby to see some of Elaine's relatives.  We got rained out by another huge storm but were still able to go out to dinner as a family.

These guys are such, such good buddies.  They have been missing each other like crazy so this was great.  They definitely get loud and crazy together but they have so much fun and get along so great.

Sunday we all went to church together and then got ready and went to Pocatello to visit the cemeteries there and have dinner at Lewis and Susan's house.  It was great to see everyone and catch up!  And of course the kids had fun playing nonstop!  We got home late, and then sadly we had to say goodbye to the Wilkers on Monday morning at about 10am.  It was very hard to see them go and lots of tears were shed by everyone.  We were so glad that they were crazy enough to make that long trip for just a weekend.  We are so grateful for such amazing families, we are so blessed!

Last year on Memorial Day was the last time that we got to see Grandma Chandler healthy.  So weird to think that we were with her last year at this same spot with her and now we are visiting her grave. A big part of the reason why the Wilkers came was so that they could visit her grave.

Kaley didn't get to meet Grandma Chandler since she passed away exactly a month before she was born.  We feel very strongly that Kaley got to meet her before she was born and think that's where she got her blue eyes from.  Just minutes after Kaley was born we asked her if she said goodbye to Grandma Chandler and gave her a hug and she let out a little sad sound.  They have a little connection we think!
