Memorial Day...

Over Memorial Day weekend Steve's parents invited Preston over for a couple days.  He has slept over before but this was for 2 nights and definitely the longest he's been away from us.  We were a little worried about how long he would be ok but we also knew his best buddy Tyson would be there to keep him busy and distract him.  He made it the whole time with no problems and had a great time.  We were so glad that it went so well!  Our house was really strange without him.  It was super quiet and we were almost bored without him.  We did get to go on a "half-date" (since we had just one kid instead of two) to Olive Garden and walk the mall without stopping at the playground.  It was pretty nice.  We think Abby enjoyed the quiet too and she got to play with all of Preston's toys without him yelling at her or taking them away.  The quiet was a nice change and we couldn't imagine what it was like when we had no kids or just one.  We definitely missed our little buddy and were excited to see him on Monday.
We had a great Memorial Day.  After 3 solid days of cold and rain, the sun came out and it was a pretty pleasant day.  Steve's family always visits the cemeteries of their loved ones brings them flowers.  We visited both Steve's mom and dad's side of the family.
One of the high schools in Pocatello uses their football field to put up a cross for every casualty in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.  It was a great reminder of the sacrifices so many have made for this country and our freedoms.  Powerful for Steve's family also because Steve's brother Daniel has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan and we know he has been in dangerous situations and are so grateful he is safe.

We headed to Grandma Chandlers house after our stops for the classic bbq and playing.
We were playing with little rockets with the boys.  After two solid days of going one hundred percent, Preston was exhausted and pretty much an emotional mess that day.  I think it was 6:30 when he asked to put his pj's on and leave.
Love this even though it was really the start of Preston knocking over Abby.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and we welcome the official start of summer!!
