Bear Lake!!

Yesterday we went with Steve's family to Bear Lake and had a GREAT day!!  We left Steve's parents' house in Pocatello at like 7:45am for the 2 hour drive.  We got there in time to pick a good spot before the crowds got there.  We had a great little base camp plus a canoe, a kayak, and 2 rented jet skis.  The boys had tons of fun with sand toys and playing in the sand and water.  Preston loved his little blow up boogie board that he calls his "booger" board, lol.  They even took a couple turns on the canoe and jet skis.  Gotta say, jet skis are so fun, love the speed and the waves!  Abby LOVED the sand!!  She just played, walked, crawled, and laid down in it the whole day.  She of course ate tons of sand even though we tried to stop her.  Gonna see that in her diaper!  We know Abby is a flexible baby that is up for anything but we were still amazed at just how good she did.  She wasn't bothered at all by being super dirty, cold, or wet.  I thought for sure she would pass out at some point but she kept on going!

Of course, our day couldn't go on without some sort of adventure... Preston and Tyson had gone canoeing with Papa on their very 1st campout and Preston didn't like it and was pretty scared.  So I was happy that he was willing to go again yesterday.  The boys and John went in the morning and did a great job and Preston liked it.  They went again in the afternoon and it didn't go so well.  The canoe tipped over!  They had gotten too close to some rocks and there were a lot more waves.  Thankfully Steve and Angie were each on a jet ski and were on their way to say hello to the boys.  They saw them fall in and rushed over.  Steve immediately jumped in to help John who had snatched up both boys and had one in each arm (thank goodness for life jackets, seriously).  They were able to get to the edge and climb up some rocks.  Angie rushed back to where we were to get the car and drive over to them to get the boys.  Lisa then hopped on the jet ski to help Steve get back to his jet ski, which was floating out all alone in the lake!  John got back in the canoe alone but then got tipped over again so Steve had to tow the canoe back to shore with his jet ski.  Angie brought the boys back to camp. They were obviously really scared and shaken up.  Preston burst into tears and was shaking when I picked him up.  Never fun to see your little one that scared.  We were proud of the boys though, because that was really scary and they did great.  All Preston could say was, "I did NOT like that canoe ride."  We assured him he didn't have to go back on.  They recovered pretty quickly and were back to playing in the sand in no time.  Oh, and then after all that, Steve got a written warning by the boat police for driving too close to swimmers on his jet ski, seriously?!

The water was this amazing turquoise color, so pretty.  Also, you could wade out forever before it started getting deeper, nice because we didn't have to worry about the boys too much.

The two jet skis and the canoe.

This girl was in heaven.  Do you see the crazy amount of sand all over her?? When I finally took her swimsuit off at the end of the day, literally clumps of sand came out of her swimsuit and diaper.

I thought she might fall asleep, but no, she just needed a quick rest before going again.
We put the kids in the car as Steve was helping his dad hook up his trailer.  They were in there for less than 5 minutes before they looked like this.   Unfortunately, they didn't stay that way for our 3 hour drive home, but isn't that always the case!
We were all exhausted by the time we got home and all sunburned, but it was so worth it... a really good day!
