Oh no!

We had a couple firsts for our family... the first time taking a kid to the emergency room and our first broken bone!!  Last Friday night (Nov. 21st) Abby was taking a shower and I was just finishing getting Preston out of the bath when she was standing on a little seat we have in the shower and she fell.  She was had gotten hurt and was super upset and crying hard.  She was saying her shoulder/collar bone area was hurting and I noticed a bump on her right collar bone.  We tried to have her extend her arm and she could barely move it.  Steve and Abby headed to the ER and I was left home to worry!!  They took an x-ray and it confirmed... broken collar bone!  Poor girl.  She was given something for the pain and sent home.  Not an area that can have a cast and they say it will heal just fine on it's own... in 6-8 weeks.  In the meantime we have to make sure she doesn't use it, not an easy task for a 3 year that uses her right arm to do pretty much everything!!

She was pretty freaked out by the hospital and the pain and we let her stay up and watch a movie after they got home.  She was exhausted and not so great Saturday but was able to spend the day on the couch watching movies and taking a big nap.  She got some sweet little gifts from her little friend Ava and Steve and Preston got her a new sticker book and some Frozen socks.  She's adjusting well and being very brave.  We feel like we have a long road ahead of us and it's going to be hard to slow her down and make sure she doesn't move too much or hurt herself.  We're especially nervous with our trip to Nebraska in just a couple of days, yikes!!  We still can't believe that our first kid to the ER and first broken bone was Abby and not Preston!
