Update on Preston...
I thought I would do a quick update on Preston's arm. We were all (especially Preston) anxiously counting down to Tuesday, April 12th because that was Preston's next doctors appointment. At that appointment they took x-rays again to check it's progress and then took out the two pins they had put in there. Preston was very brave and did great except for getting a little light headed. The doctor was really impressed with how it was healing and said it was healing even better than he had expected at that point. Preston got to get his cast taken off and didn't have to have a new one put on, yay! We had him wear his sling for the rest of the week to school to help him, and others, to remember to be careful with it but at home he doesn't wear the sling and hasn't worn it to school this week at all! Even though he doesn't have a cast, he still has some restrictions... no riding his bike, playing on playgrounds, swinging, basically anything where he could fall on his arm. Besides being careful, we are just working with him to start moving it and getting his range of motion back. The first day without his cast he was so nervous about moving it at all for fear it would hurt but now he is doing great moving it a bunch and exercising it a ton. It's still a bit of a bummer for him to not be able to ride his bike or go to parks (especially with the handful of nice weather days we've been having) and we had to pull him out of soccer we had signed him up for, which he was supposed to start April 16th. Good news is the doctor gave the all clear for him to play baseball which starts in June! He has one more doctors appointment to check it again on May 3rd but I'm sure that will go well. Broken bones are no fun but we have just been amazed at the healing power of the body in about a months time, so crazy. Preston has been a trooper and it really hasn't ended up being as bad as we thought it would be.
