Even though we were all exhausted after Legoland and had to head back to the condo to get packed up and ready to leave, we had to make one last stop... the San Diego temple. The temple was closed while we were there but we were glad that the grounds were still open. We definitely try to stop by any temples that are close while on trips. We want to make sure our kids know just how important temples are. This one is especially pretty and special for Steve since it is where he took his endowments out. We were able to get a couple of pictures and chat with some sister missionaries there.
We got back to the condo and started packing up and headed to bed. The Nebraskans had to leave at 4:30am to catch their flight home, so we spent the morning cleaning up and getting all packed. We said goodbye to San Diego at about 10am. Sad face. We were all so tired! I ended up driving in the afternoon through the last bit of California and past Las Vegas to give Steve a much needed break from driving and all three kiddos slept at the same time. I was the only one awake, that doesn't happen in our car very often. We had dinner in Cedar City before getting to Fillmore, Utah for the night. We all went right to bed!
Sunday morning we let the kids swim in the pool for just a bit before getting on the road at about 10am again. Thank goodness for driving through Utah and Idaho because we were able to listen to all of general conference that day. We felt really bad about missing all of the Saturday sessions, something that we make an effort not to miss, so it felt good to listen on Sunday. I was amazed at the peace and Spirit I was able to feel listening to the talks, even on the road with sometimes noisy kids. It definitely strengthened my testimony that those men and women are called of God and truly inspired. We finally made it home at about 4pm and we were SO happy to be home!
This really was such an amazing trip that I feel very lucky we were able to be a part of. I am definitely sad it is over already but such good memories! We kept joking that next year will be Disneyland, haha!
