LEGO LAND!!

Our last day together in San Diego was Friday, Oct. 2nd, our day to go to Legoland!  The kids had really been looking forward to this one and were so dang excited.  Unfortunately one more of us had to visit urgent care...  Elaine was dealing with a kidney stone and the pain kicked in Thursday night, with none of us having the pain killers she needed.  John and Elaine headed to urgent care while we squeezed Angie and Tyson in our van and headed to Legoland hoping to meet up with them later in the day.

We found out later in the day that the urgent care had sent Elaine to the emergency room since they needed to confirm her kidney stone before handing out pain killers, besides the fact that she has a laundry list of health issues and medications she is on so the urgent care probably didn't want to deal with that.  She had to wait a long time at the ER while they tried to contact her doctor in Nebraska to finally be given a prescription for pain meds.  By the time they got all of that taken care of, changed and ate lunch, they didn't get to Legoland until 4:30pm when the park closed at 5pm.  :(  And Elaine felt awful and was tired because of the meds.  Oh well, one of those things.

The rest of us got to Legoland really early (we were under the impression you could go into the gift shop early, you can't), so we had some waiting to do.  It was hot and we had to do a bunch of waiting for rides with lines that moved slowly but we all had a lot of fun.  Once again it was a day of go, go, go because of their fall hours but the kids (and the adults too) got to go on a lot of rides and we got to see all of the cool Lego displays.  I am just really glad we didn't go in the peak of summer, between the heat and the lines that would not be as fun.

Preston was pretty excited to go on more roller coasters after his success at Sea World, so that was fun.  Plus, Abby was brave enough to go on a roller coaster too!  But the highlight for Preston that he had been looking forward to most was the Star Wars Mini Land display.  A whole section of the park with scenes and displays from Star Wars all from legos.  I think Preston's little mind exploded!!  And I'm pretty sure Steve thought it was pretty cool too!

Angie ordered these shirts before hand for all the kiddos off of an Etsy site.  We got to pick the faces and they each have their names on it.  They were so dang cute!  And it makes a fun souvenir now.

One thing I liked about Legoland was that they often had Lego play areas for the kids, while waiting in lines or waiting for others on rides.

Steve has a thing for buffalo so he was pretty excited that there were a head of lego buffalo.

Poor Kaley could only go on 2 of the rides the whole day (we missed a couple of the other ones she could go on).  Even still she was a really good girl the whole day.

After hitting the very busy gift shop at closing time, we were all pooped.  We found a diner close by to go have dinner and wait out the traffic before heading back to our condo (even though Elaine still didn't feel well, she insisted!).  

The day took some unexpected turns but over all we had a lot of fun, especially the kids!
