Even more fun...

(Arizona trip cont.)
Steve flew in Sunday night and the kids and I were able to pick them up and the kids were super excited.  We had fun at an arcade and a mall on Monday.  Tuesday we went to a jumping castle place that we practically had to ourselves and to Peter Piper Pizza.  

Steve and I were able to go to a D-Backs game together Tuesday night while my parents watched the kids.  Crazy story of that night:  we parked the car in our favorite parking lot and as Steve is getting out of the car I hear him yell, "Shut up, no way!"  I'm like, what?!?  Walking up to us is our good friends Jared and Carrie Perrine with their kids.  Jared was Steve's best friend ever since he moved to Tucson when he was 13.  It was such a crazy coincidence and if either one of had been there 5 minutes different we would've missed them completely I'm sure.  What are the chances?!?  It was a pretty empty game so they were able to come sit in the empty seats by us so we could hang out.  We hadn't seen them in almost 2 years and they're not on facebook or blogs or anything so we had a lot to catch up on.  It was such a happy coincidence and besides that the game was a bust with us losing and it being surprisingly cold and windy.  (we were pretty upset about the weather that felt a lot more like Idaho, and was just windy and cool for a couple days.  We really wanted warm and sunny :(  ).

Steve really wanted to go to the day game for the D-backs on Wednesday and we had a hard time trying to figure out what the kids and I would do.  Last week the D-backs had their record long game of 5 hours and 32 minutes and in honor of that they had some of their upper deck tickets on sale for $5.32.  With that price (and since Abby was free) we decided to just go for it and take the kids to the game.  We really didn't think we would take them to a game yet because we knew they wouldn't want to sit and watch and might be a handful, but we had low expectations.  We decided to take the new Phoenix light rail, more for Preston's benefit than anything else but it was a fun way to get to the game.  With it being a day game, it was really empty so we were able to sit away from other people so the kids wouldn't bother anyone.  We had hot dogs and corn dogs and kettle corn and just had fun.  The kids did awesome and watched more of the game and stayed in their seats longer than we thought they would.  They got to meet the mascot Baxter and play on the playground.  Steve and I have some wonderful memories of going to games and there was something special about sharing it with our kids.  Definitely one of those days that are just amazing and wonderful for memories!

I had packed Preston's d-backs shirt and hat and of course Steve brought his stuff.  My mom got Abby her d-backs shirt at Old Navy before we even decided we were taking the kids.  Once we decided we were all going I couldn't have my whole family except for me wearing their gear, so after a trip to Walmart I had a d-backs shirt too!

It was completely empty behind us, it was awesome!

This trip went by way too fast and was over before we knew it.  Never fun to say goodbye but love that we had such a great time.  Here's just a few more pictures...
