Steve's birthday present...

Our week of birthdays continued with Steve's birthday on Friday.  Unfortunately he was still sick for his big day, poor guy... he even had to call in sick which he never does.  He pretty much slept and hung out on the couch all day, so nothing exciting.  I felt bad because it wasn't a great day for him, he was sick, I was grumpy, and the kids were pretty crazy because it's been cold all week and with Abby's cold we've been stuck at home.  (We're actually going to do a birthday re-do tomorrow so that we can do some fun things as a family.)  We were able to take a huge nap that afternoon which meant we were all going to be up late, so we rented a movie and got some dinner and had a late night family movie.  Steve had to go to work yesterday even though he still didn't feel well but we were able to go on a date last night to a quick dinner and a movie (yeah for movie gift card and movie pass!).

On a slightly related note... we've been talking about getting Preston a bike for awhile.  He's definitely old enough for one but we didn't get him one for his birthday or Christmas because it would be sad to give it to him when it's snowing outside and he can't use it.  We've also been working on him learning to use peddles.  His favorite toy is a little scooter that doesn't use peddles so he's never quite gotten the hang of it.  That was until he rode that little princess bike at my parents' house.  He totally got the hang of it and was loving it so we knew he was ready for his own bike.  Since Steve really isn't big on presents or anything big for his birthday he decided his gift would be a bike for Preston.  We found a good one on clearance at Toy r' us and went ahead and got it for him.  Lucky boy!  He was thrilled and helped Steve put it together and had to ride it instantly even though it was pretty cold outside.  He looked like a pro after just a few loops around our driveway (so grateful for our huge driveway!).

He calls it his tank bike since it's green.
We all had to come out to watch, even Abby right after a bath.  I was trying to keep her all  wrapped up but she wanted to run around too.
